When I founded Clinique MedNam Lachine in 2015, it was more than a
professional decision. It was a commitment.

At the time, I was leaving my role as Director of Professional Services
at Lachine Hospital with a strong conviction: our community deserved
better. Lachine had the lowest ratio of family physicians per capita on
the entire Island of Montreal. Behind those numbers were families
struggling to find stable care, vulnerable individuals without
consistent medical support, and a clear gap in access to quality
healthcare.

I chose to move forward with a clear vision: to build a centre of
excellence in family medicine—deeply rooted in the community, yet
forward-looking and innovative.

We began with just two physicians, driven by determination and purpose.
Today, nearly 40 family physicians, more than a dozen specialists, close
to ten nurse practitioners, and many healthcare professionals work
together in synergy, united by one goal: to provide comprehensive,
accessible, and deeply human care.

Our ambition was never simply to grow in numbers. It was to redefine how
medicine is practiced:

A more human medicine, where trust is central.
A collaborative medicine, where expertise is integrated.
An integrative approach, considering the whole person.
A model where patients are empowered to take an active role in their
health.

Our pursuit of excellence led us to achieve the designation of GMF-U
(University Family Medicine Group). We are one of the rare
entrepreneurial GMF-U start-ups in Quebec—only the fourth at the
time—and today the only one of our category delivering over 100,000
family medicine visits annually, with more than 50,000 registered
patients.

Beyond the numbers, what matters most is the human impact. Every patient
cared for, every student trained, and every team member engaged
contributes to building a stronger, more accessible healthcare system.

We are not only caring for today’s population—we are helping shape the
medicine of tomorrow.
